City police are appealing for tips to identify a suspicious man who offered a ride to a 16-year-old girl in the Rossmere neighbourhood in East Kildonan yesterday.
Police said the girl declined and ran to her home.
The alleged incident occurred about 9:20 a.m.
Police said the male is white, 30 to 40 years old with short brown hair and a medium build. He was clean shaven and wearing a black jacket.

I’m a father too, and it bugs the hell outta me when I see these girls walking in cold temps. knowing I shouldn’t offer a ride for what might be misconstrude.
well i am a mother, and it kinda is an iffy topic. If god forid my daughter was walking outside in cold weather and whatnot- she would be told to run like hell if some old man rolled up next to her especially when he offers a ride. It is a very scary thing for a woman to feel like they cant control the situation they are in. I was raped and im not out to thinkn the worst of people by any means, but im not naive anymore either. Theres no way to tell by looking, and sometimes your gut isnt always right! I would do the same thing if i was an older gentleman who saw a young girl walking outide freezing her butt off! id want to offer a ride too! Absolutely- thats someodys granddaughter, daughter, sister.. frined and its common courtesy to want to help.. I’d stick with not asking.. because of situations like this. Its too bad all those sick people out there made it hard to take help, and offer it to someone who looks like they need it. Very sad..
